Porting Red Hat Linux Porting on RFSoC

Hi,

We are using the ZCU216 RFSoC Evaluation board. We would like to port Red Hat Linux on the board. Since RFSoC is similar to MPSoC, does anyone has any ideas on how to port?

Hi @Chetan140

At least you generate similar version kernel and dtb by petalinux.

Also, you need to consider how to boot kernel by u-boot or uefi boot.

BTW, since kernel version is a little old for Red Hat Linux, I think that it's hard to achieve what you wand to do.

Hi @watari

Thank you for replying. I can understand that it's hard to achieve. I wanted some information on how to proceed or if anyone has experience in porting RHEL on RFSoC or similar boards, if they can share that would be helpful

Regards,

Chetan

Hi @Chetan140

FYI.

I think that it's difficult to port linux kernel without acknowledgment of linux and porting kernel.

# petalinux

petalinux 2019.1 or 2019.2 : Kernel 4.9

petalinux 2021.1 : Kernel 5.10

# RedHat Enterprise

RHEL 8 : Kernel 4.18.0

RHEL 9 (Fedora 33) : Kernel 5.8.15

Best regards,
