Problems on running DMA in linux

Jump to solution

Hello,

I'm trying to learn how to use DMA in linux on zedbord. By following the tutorial here I get hardware implementations. However, when I want to use it in embedded linux and get it started in SD card, errors occurs saying that time out and transfer fails. I've changed the width of buffer length to the max number 23 however it does not work. Could anyone give any help or ideas on how to solve it?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your reply! I've runned the DMA soft IP according to xilinx wiki and get no errors. 图片1.png After checking the uImage choices I think the configrations were wrong. Since the default choices conclude PL330 API driver and I ignored it, which I thought it is not a big problem, the additional driver might have a conflict with the in-built drivers. I canceled all the choices in DMA configrations except Xilinx AXI DMA engine and finally got the driver worked.

Hi,

You don't give many details, are you running the axi dma test that is in the kernel 1st to make sure it's all working? I saw the tx stream looped back to the rx stream in the TCL which is good, did you generate the pl.dtsi such that the interrupts are right (not reversed)?

Thanks
John
