SPIx8 (dual quad) QSPI flash support in Petalinux 2018.3

Jump to solution

Hi,

We are trying to boot petalinux on our custom board (based on XCVU9P). This board has 2 instances of QSPI (QSPI0(bank0) and QSPI1(bank65)). We tried petalinux-package command with SPIx4 and SPIx8, the command generates MCS files peacefully without any errors.  SPIx4 MCS file runs on hardware and also boots linux, on the other hand SPIx8 MCS file boots FSBL and is unable to locate u-boot.

Does Petalinux2018.3 support SPIx8 (daul-quad mode) for QSPI flash? Can anyone also share some documentation shading some light on this? Thanks!

Unfortunately @stephenm I can not disclose the device tree due to confidentiality issues. One xilinx person suggested that AXI Quad SPI IP does not truly support SPIx8 mode. The dual quad mode does not represent parallel execution instead a muxing of the two slaves. We will expect Xilinx to do these changes in 2019.1!
