Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC ZU3EG A484 apt-get command not found

Jump to solution

I have Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC ZU3EG A484:

I downloaded factory reset Linux which is approximately 16GB size of OS. I tried connecting my device with internet but It says apt-get command not found, I also tried Yum install and it says yum command not found. Please advise how to work with this Linux OS where I cannot download or install any 3rd party software or tools.I also downloaded PYNQ 2019 version and that one has the same problem I cannot download anything. I am not sure what are this OS for? How can I do Linux development with tools?

Please advise on proper internet connectivity or Linux OS.

Hi @shahanujs

The following URL might be helpful for you, if you build linux kernel by yourself.

https://forums.xilinx.com/t5/Embedded-Linux/ZCU102-ubuntu-desktop-using-Petalinux-2019-1/m-p/1037244#M39478

Or the following URL is helpful for you, if you use debian instead of ubuntu.

Best regards,

Hi @shahanujs

By saying "I downloaded factory reset Linux which is approximately 16GB size of OS" -- what kind of Linux rootfs are you using? Can you provide the source or link?

Tipycally embedded Linux don't support package management(apt-get/yum...), these are only supported by Desk OS like Ubuntu/RedHat...

You can get Ubunut on Zynq also but this is not supported officially by Xilinx.

Hello Thank you for the reply. I am fairly new to this linux world and Zynq. The OS i downloaded was found under following link:

https://www.96boards.org/documentation/consumer/ultra96/ultra96-v2/downloads/

I used Linux (pre-built).

Can you please share the link for the ubuntu linux for zynq, i know it is not officially approved by zynq but i have no other choice.

Thank you very much and appreciated for the help.
