ZCU106 hangs after BL31

Jump to solution

I am trying to build a ZCU106 Petalinux project from the ground up. I have imported a ZCU106 HDF and left most of the rest of the configuration of the project untouched.

When I try to boot it on my eval board, all I see is this:

Xilinx Zynq MP First Stage Boot Loader
Release 2019.1 Feb 11 2020 - 23:42:53
NOTICE: ATF running on XCZU7EG/EV/silicon v4/RTL5.1 at 0xfffea000
NOTICE: BL31: Secure code at 0x0
NOTICE: BL31: Non secure code at 0x8000000
NOTICE: BL31: v2.0(release):xilinx-v2018.3-720-g80d1c790
NOTICE: BL31: Built : 17:57:12, Feb 12 2020

If I try to include the PL bitstream into the BOOT.BIN (by adding --fpga system.bit to the package command) then it hangs after the 2 FSBL lines, not even getting to BL31.

Is it supposed to be easy to build up a ZCU106 project without using the BSP? Are there steps I am missing?

Running Petalinux 2019.1.

HI @eliezer

Please use this below petalinux steps to build the boot images.

petalinux-create --type project --template Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC --name my_proj

petalinux-config --get-hw-description=<PATH TO HDF>

petalinux-build

petalinux-package --boot --fsbl images/linux/zynqmp_fsbl.elf --fpga images/linux/system.bit  --pmufw images/linux/pmufw.elf --u-boot

Note: Please try to boot with  BSP prebuilt  images first to avoid any borad issues, whcih are present in pre-built/linux/images/ folder. I dont think any board issue, since you are able to get till ATF & BL31.

Thanks & regards

Yes, those are the steps I took.

I will try with a BSP and get back to you.

I cannot verify that this problem is gone while using the BSP, but I strongly suspect it will be. Marking your comment as the answer.
