ZCU111 Kernel panic and failure for booting from custom petalinux build

Hi all, 

I was trying to just take an example design provided by Vivado and make it into a bootable petalinux build from the sd card. I selected the reference design provided from vivado that gives the ultrascale+, ddr4, uart0, gpio, etc. I exported this hardware, did the petalinux-create -> petalinux-config -> petalinux-build -> petalinux package, and put it on the sd card.

Upon booting, however, I received the following output:

Any ideas as to what the issue may be? Of concern is:

PLL: shutdown (this occurs at sporadic time stamps).

Additionally, for using the prebuild ZCU111 bsp and putting the .bin and image.ub on the sd card, everything boots as expected, but pll shutdown occurs only in a specific time grouping:

[ 2.945424] PLL: enable

As you see for my kernel output, this occurs much earlier, and enable never occcurs. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Stephen,

What seemingly solved the issue is recreating the project from scratch and running connection/block automation, rather than using the example project. I am not sure why that is however, but at least I no longer get this kernel panic.

Hi @az23 

I've moved this to embedded Linux. 

So it seems like you are trying to re-build a linux image for zcu111 from the RF Data Converter Evaluation design and you are having issues. 

In this case to rule out your hardware being the cause of the issue can you try boot the image that comes with the evaluation design?

When doing petalinux-package did you mazke sure to add the bitstream. For example

petalinux-package --boot --fpga design_1_wrapper.bit --u-boot
