Zeroconf in Petalinux (without Avahi)

I need to include zeroconf in my petalinux project (based on the ZCU102 TRD, 2019.1). I am aware that Avahi provides this service. However, Avahi's security holes make it unsuitable for this project.

Is there a more secure source of zeroconf that I can include in my project?

The other main implementation of mDNS I know of is Apple's source - mDNSResponder.  I'm not sure if that is more or less secure than avahi.  I also do not believe it is in Petalinux by default, so you would likely need a custom recipe for it.

A custom build of a different zeroconf app is my worst-case scenario solution. I was hoping it wouldn't have to come to that, but I understand if there's no other way
