Re: Zynq: Loading bitfile into FPGA from Linux (xdevcfg)

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I run into a similar problem. On zc702 after I typed

cat bitstream.bin > /dev/xdevcfg

linux hangs completely without any message. However, the PL configuration is successful as I can see leds blink in the expected manner and the DONE led is on. Just to clarify, my PL design is independent of the PS. It is not connected to any PS AXI interface and it uses an external clock. Can anybody give me some advice on this?

Also, I noticed a similar problem mentioned in the latest UG873 (http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx14_7/ug873-zynq-ctt.pdf) p.67, as follows

"3. Click Program to download the bitstream and program the PL fabric.

Note: Zync PS is in suspended position now, with no response on Zync Linux terminal. Refer to Answer Record 55150 to resume Zync."

I wonder if that is the same problem problem that I see, but AR#55150 doesn't seem to exist on Xilinx website. Does anybody knows what's in that AR?

Thanks in advance.

I'll take a guess that your bitstream contains a design that does not instantiate the PS.

I believe the current devcfg linux driver always enables the level shifters after downloading the bitstream. Either you need to include the PS in your bitstream, or modify the linux driver.

Re: Zynq: Loading bitfile into FPGA from Linux (xdevcfg)

i have one bit file and i  programmed PL section using xdevcfg node.

but i got error and filesystem was reached at panic state.

i did following steps:-

echo 1 > /sys/devices/soc0/amba/f8007000.devcfg/is_partial_bitstream

cat my.bit > /dev/xdevcfg

after this , filesystem was reached at panic state.(error).

is any filesystem problem or driver?

what should i do?

Hi,

I have the same problem described. How do I do include PS in my bitstream?

Thank you!
