adding pre-built application to roots

Jump to solution

Hi!

I try adding pre-built application (say, taskset) to rootfs using Petalinux-2017.2 as described in UG1144 (Petalinux Tools Documentation), but deployment fails with "ERROR: taskset-1.0-r0 do_package: QA Issue: File '/usr/bin/taskset' from taskset was already stripped, this will prevent future debugging! [already-stripped]".

The file is indeed stripped.   How can I overcome this Petalinux restriction?

Actual solution was to add this strings to project-spec/meta-user/recipes-apps/taskset/taskset.bb:

INSANE_SKIP_${PN} = "ldflags"
INHIBIT_PACKAGE_DEBUG_SPLIT = "1"
INHIBIT_PACKAGE_STRIP = "1"

Thank you for your hint.

Hey @mishuk,

At least for yocto (and as far as I know Petalinux is based on that), to fix this error, you add INSANE_SKIP_${PN}_append = “already-stripped” to your local.conf file, where ${PN} is the associated package name.

Hope this helps,

Herbert
