changing the bootargs by editing system-user.dtsi file

Jump to solution

Hi,

I am using petalinux 2020.2 and the goal is to add a device IP as uio. I have followed from some posts that I need to add the following lines in system-user.dtsi file:

/include/ "system-conf.dtsi"
/ {
    chosen{
    bootargs = "console=ttyPS0,115200 earlyprintk uio_pdrv_genirq.of_id=generic-uio";
    };
};

The file is located in <plnx-project>/project-spec/meta-user/recipes-bsp/device-tree/files/system-user.dtsi. After doing the changes I run

petalinux-build

To confirm if the bootargs have changed I run

petalinux-config

I go to DTG Settings -> Kernel Bootargs  and I see following:

image.png

I see the bootargs have not changed. Did I miss something here?

Thanks and Regards

Vishav

So I flashed the image and saw that the bootargs are in effect. However, they are not changed in petalinux config files. I suspect that the bootargs get stored in dtb and are overwritten at kernel boot.
