device tree compile error when enabling "marvell,reg-init" property

Jump to solution

Hi professional,

I have been using axi ethernet in 2016.2 and now moving to 2019.1. We purchased the IP license for 2019.1 recently.

Below is the device tree node I added in 2016.2 and it works very well and has been verified for years.

&axi_ethernet_0 {
phy-handle = <&phy0>;
xlnx,has-mdio = <0x1>;
mdio {
#address-cells = <1>;
#size-cells = <0>;
phy0: phy@0 {
compatible = "marvell,88e1510";
device_type = "ethernet-phy";
reg = <0>;
marvell,reg-init = <2 21 0xffet 0x00 0x0 0 0x7fff 0x8000>;
};
};
};

The problem in applying this to 2019.1 is that after I enabled the "marvell,reg-init = <2 21 0xffet 0x00 0x0 0 0x7fff 0x8000>;"

the yocto device tree compiler fails to compile. If I comment out that specific line only, device tree compiler compiles successfully.

I found the drivers/net/phy/marvell.c has a parsing routine for "marvell,reg-init" property and seems marvell phy support this.

What is the difference in 2019.1 device tree compiler? How do I fix this?

Thanks.

Hi @kyi

I see 't' in your marevell's address, could you please check it once?

marvell,reg-init = <2 21 0xffet 0x00 0x0 0 0x7fff 0x8000>;

May be this is why device tree generator is not able to compile. please check

Best Regards
