insmod stopped working

Jump to solution

For several weeks, insmod pbdmamem.ko worked fine on zc706 running

Welcome to Ubuntu 12.10 (GNU/Linux 3.8.0-xilinx-00015-gabc285b armv7l)

the .ko was unchanged for 2 weeks.

A user did an apt-get update on Friday.

Then on Monday morning running this command hangs the system.   No messages output and since it hangs,

then power cycle loses any dmesg information.  Any tips on how to debug/fix this are appreciated.

The ug873-design-files/LKM/blink.ko can insmod okay, dmesg |tail has expected output.

Yes, eventually the idea is to build it into the kernel.  If the .ko is unchanged why should it become un- insmod - able ?

Normal operation:  cat system.bit.bin > /dev/xdevcfg

insmod pbdmamem.ko

If a different system.bit.bin is installed to the PL using XMD then you can have insmod problem.
