I am sitting on Ubuntu 14.04 + Petalinux/Vivado 2015.4 + zedboard
all the application programs are developed and fully tested on the above system.
Any benefit to migrate to Petalinux Vivado 2017.2 (possible requiring a new version of OS)?
Just basic engineering work, no fancy stuff in the near future.
Any suggestions?

Hi
Migrating to latest petalinux has its own advantages, specially rich features w.r.t updated latest kernel version with yocto as a build system in its backend.
Again, it all depends on the applications that you are going to develop for your requirements
