loading linux kernel following uboot-ml507-howto.pdf

Hi,

When my customer follows the howto guide for loading linux kernel, he got an error when he push PPC reset button.

By the way, first image loading was successful, only reset did not work.

And my customer also reviewed ug511.pdf and wants to know why flash erase is required on pg 44 since other guide didn't request such action before writing image onto a flash.

This is from the Error Message

Wrong Image Format for bootm command

Re: loading linux kernel following uboot-ml507-howto.pdf

Since this is a "Can't get image" error, I think you can read the Flash using XMD to verify the kernel image has been stored there correctly.

Re: loading linux kernel following uboot-ml507-howto.pdf

Please provide me a detail how to read the Flash using XMD and how to compare the read image to the original kernel image.

Re: loading linux kernel following uboot-ml507-howto.pdf

XMD has a function called "data_verify". It can verify the binary image file with the data in the memory.

Syntax:
XMD% data_verify <file> <address>

where file can be your kernel image file.
Address is the Flash address where your kernel image was written into.
