sdsoc with petalinux

Hi,

I am new to SD_SOC but I have some experience with petalinux. I need to know whether it is possible to use image.ub and *.elf files that generate from sdsoc, with petalinux. Because I need to use USB camera and X11 forwarding through ethernet. I am using zedboard.

Thanks

Re: sdsoc with petalinux

Are you trying to update the image.ub generated in SDSoC in Petalinux?

If So, then no. The image.ub is a binary file that is a fit image that contains the image, dtb and rootfs.

You could just try update the device tree, the recompile and add your drivers as modules. However, you are better off just respinning the linux image in Petalinux and updating your SDSoC platform.

Re: sdsoc with petalinux

Hi

At first, you can make custom platform from /opt/Xilinx/SDx/2018.3/platforms/zed/sw/linux/linux/prebuilt/zed.hdf

Using petalinux, you should update /opt/Xilinx/SDx/2018.3/platforms/zed/sw/linux/linux/image/
image.ub

The original image.ub is system.dtb + kernel image + ramdisk

Updated image.ub should be system.dtb + kernel image

The first partition of sd card should has the update image.ub, boot.bin and uEnv.txt like this

bootargs=console=ttyPS0,115200 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw earlyprintk rootwait rootfstype=ext4 quiet

The second partition of sd card should has root file system made by petalinux.

The root file system is extracted from rootfs.tar.gz which should include gstreamer and gst-sdx

Then you should make gstreamer plugin like gstsdxfilter2d with HW accelerator using sdsoc

You should update boot.bin of sdcard with that generated from sdsoc

Copy libgstsdxfilter2d.so to /usr/lib/gstreamer-1.0  of the second partition of sdcard

After reboot, ssh log in with x11 forwarding option and do like this

gst-launch-1.0 -v v4l2src device=/dev/video0 io-mode=auto ! capsfilter caps=video/x-raw,width=640,height=480,format=YUY2 ! sdxfilter2d filter-mode=1 filter-preset=9 ! queue max-size-bytes=0 max-size-buffers=5 ! videoconvert ! xvimagesink

Refer to https://github.com/Xilinx/reVISION-Getting-Started-Guide for sdsoc revision

PS. I attached kernel config and devicetree of original image.ub
