I have downloaded and successfully run the latest zynq-linux (14.6-2013.2) image from Xilinx Wiki: http://www.wiki.xilinx.com/Zynq+14.6-2013.2+Release on my zc702 board.
When I try to use ssh-only run configuration in SDK, it fails because sftp-server does not appear to be installed in this rootfs. I confirm that I cannot sftp into the zynq, yet ssh and scp both work fine.
Has anyone got this working, or confirmed the problem? Any tips & pointers to resolution are much appreciated.
Note I have tried the prebuilt rootfs from Xilinx Wiki too: arm_ramdisk.image.gz . This image has sftp, but the ethernet interface will not come up.
Any suggestions on either are appreciated. My goal is simply to run linux apps from SDK using the ssh-only run configuration, which requires sftp.

Thanks for confirming. I also confirm sftp does not work in 14.5-release either. Who is responsible for building zynq-xilinx? Can we get an update to 14.6 to include sftp functionality?
Question: Does anyone know whether ssh-only run configuration can be setup to use ssh/scp instead of ssh/sftp? Using ssh/scp could be a reasonable workaround.

I updated the initramfs, could you please give it a shot and let us know whether it resolves the issue? Thanks.

Yes, I have the new 14.6 up and running and see that sftp is working correctly.
However in SDK my remote linux run configurations don't complete - have some kind of runtime error. That could be some kind of setup or user error on my part. Anyway, I do see the executable getting copied into the specified run directory, so for the status of this ramdisk issue, I think it is fixed.
Thanks for the update.

We are using 14.6 and generating a custom SdCard boot image using PetaLinux. Having worked through sevral issues, we are now at this (hopefully) last roadblock. Could you please provide some detail in how you fixed this? We need to essentially duplicate the changes you made to enable sftp.

First make sure you have gdbserver included in your ramdisk (that's just checking the corresponding box in the Petalinux config).
Additionally to that, I x-compiled this sftpd and repackaged the initramfs with it: http://www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/sftpserver/

I have not had much success in getting this to compile - note that I am attempting to build it as a "user-app" in standard PetaLinux fashion. Could I ask you to post your user_app folder (makefile and sources) - I think this is a reasonable request given that this is a non-trivial exercise, and should have been part of the PetaLinux distro to being with.

The newest Petalinux should have sftp integrated.
Regarding the old ramdisk: I didn't do it through Petalinux. I just cloned the repo did a normal x-compilation of the tool and manually repackaged the initramfs.
