what's the diff between /images/linux and /pre-built/linux/images

Jump to solution

depending on the commands executed in Petalinux (2017.2) I get 2 folders with images :

Q1 : what's the difference between these folders, what's the purpose of each :

<project>/images/linux

folder 1.png

<project>/pre-built/linux/images

folder 2.png

I can see that the 2nd directory contains a 'subset' of the files in the first directory ...

Q2 : Also the 2nd directory contains an empty folder 'etc' and 'implementation' : what's the use of that?

pre-built/linux/images ---> Tested boot images provided by the Xilinx as part of the BSP release. You dont need to worry about empty folders (etc & implementation) which got checked-in

images/linux ---> Created boot images location, after successful petalinux project build. So all user customization's get reflected here
