How to handle INOUT io signals in XPS and Microblaze?

Hi,

I am using Spartan-3E starter kit. In XPS, we try to add a user module asyncethcat2.vhd (including submodule user_logic.vhd) to the Microblaze .

We first exported a template asyncethcat2, made changes to asyncethcat2.vhd and user_logic.vhd, and then inported the asyncethcat2 to XPS.

In asyncethcat2.vhd and user_logic.vhd, we have INOUT signal et1100_data, a 16 bit bus IO to the board expension connector. When in generate netlist, the XPS itself created a wrapper asyncethcat2_0_wrapper.VHD. The asyncethcat2_0_wrapper.VHD changed my original design from et1100_data to et1100_data_I, et1100_data_O and et1100_data_T. Then XST says mismatch:

Thank You!
ERROR:Xst:2585 - Port <et1100_data_I>; of instance <asyncethcat2_0> does not exist in definition <asyncethcat2>. Please compare the definition of block <asyncethcat2> to its component declaration to detect the mismatch.
ERROR:Xst:2585 - Port <et1100_data_O>; of instance <asyncethcat2_0> does not exist in definition <asyncethcat2>. Please compare the definition of block <asyncethcat2> to its component declaration to detect the mismatch.
ERROR:Xst:2585 - Port <et1100_data_T>; of instance <asyncethcat2_0> does not exist in definition <asyncethcat2>. Please compare the definition of block <asyncethcat2> to its component declaration to detect the mismatch.
ERROR:MDT - Aborting XST flow execution!
INFO:MDT - Refer to

Since the wrapper is auto generated by the tool, I tried to hand correct the file, it did not help. When rerun "generate netlist", the wrapper is updated by the tool again.

Can you help solve the issue?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: How to handle INOUT io signals in XPS and Microblaze?

Hello,

I think to create a MPD for a Bidirectional IO you can refer to GPIO MPD file and make sure that Input and Outputs are defined in a similar way.

And if i am not wrong, the file seems to be corrupted as the name of the wrapper is different <asyncethcat2_0>>

You might want to cross check.

Regards,

Hem.
