100G Ethernet subsystem v2.4 AN/LT feature


I have an eval license for the AN/LT feature to try and improve my 100G Ethernet channel.  PG203 doesn't really have any useful information on how to use the AN/LT option.   A paragraph on each and the register map show the enable and start bit.  I can kind of guess what they do but an applications note or example design would be helpful if any exist.  I could not find one.  Please let me know if someone has information on the AN/LT feature.
 
 

One more question about implementing the AN/LT feature.  How would I initiate AN/LT without the AXI interface, just with 100G cmac IO pins?   For example, if I use BD and instantiate a 100G Ethernet subsystem (v2.4) and want to control AN/LT with my own RTL module connected to the Ethernet subsystem.

When the ctl_autoneg_enable input signal is set to 1, auto negotiation begins automatically at power-up.

I think what John means is that the information provided in the Appendix you mentioned in PG203 doesn't really provides a lot of useful information apart from what you mentioned in your reply. It's just some background information on AN/LT and then a set of tables with the relevant signals. But there are many things to clarify. For example the signals in the tables mention that there are pages exchanged between the two endpoints. But what are these pages and how should these be handled?
