Axi ethernet flow control mac address

Jump to solution

Hi all!

AXI Ethernet core has support flow control mechanism. Receiver Configuration Word 0 (0x400) (https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/ip_documentation/tri_mode_ethernet_mac/v8_2/pg051-tri-mode-eth-mac.pdf page 42) and  Receive Configuration Word1 (https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/ip_documentation/axi_ethernet/v7_0/pg138-axi-ethernet.pdf page 75) contains MAC-address used as the source address for any transmitted flow control frames. After reset, registers have the value 0xFFFFFFFFFFFF.

1) If I turn on two devices with the core opposite each other, will the flow control work? In the Xilinx drivers (https://github.com/Xilinx/embeddedsw/blob/65c849ed46c88c67457e1fc742744f96db968ff1/XilinxProcessorIPLib/drivers/axiethernet/src/xaxiethernet.c#L850) MAC-address does not change.

2) If to me need to write your address, at what point do me do this? Is it possible during operation or during initialization? I have implemented a write a register Receive Configuration Word1. Changed bit 31 (reset) and 28 (Receive Enable).

Checked in the simulator. Flow control works without writing to registers Receiver Configuration Word 0 and Receive Configuration Word1.
