Changing Zynq Ultrascale+ GEM MAC Speed/Duplex After Starting MAC

Jump to solution

If the MAC is already started with a default speed/duplex (1000Mbps/Full), is it necessary to stop the MAC before changing the speed/duplex bits in the GEM network_config register to match the PHY?  The PHY was initialized after starting the MAC.  What happens if the MAC is not stopped and re-started but the speed duplex bits are just changed?  Does the MAC keep running at the previous speed/duplex or switch to the new speed/duplex?

Hi @cstreece ,

The changes won't take into effect if you do not re-start/config the core.

If starting with Versal take a look at our Versal Design Process Hub and our Versal Blogs and our Versal Ethernet Sticky Note.
