XPS External Peripheral Controller information

Hi,

I will use the ML605 that contains CY7C67300 for USB interface. I've read on xilinx site that the IP XPS-ECP supports the cypress chip for the USB link but I don't understant if this IP allows me to communicate at 480Mbps.Somebody can help me?

Thanks in advance

Marco

Re: XPS External Peripheral Controller information

I don't think the IP core can utilize the full bandwidth of USB.

Re: XPS External Peripheral Controller information

The CY7C67300 is a full-speed device, not high-speed. Thus, you only get a maximum of 12Mbit/s over the USB interface. In addition, if you are using e.g. a ML605 board the chip interfaces with the FPGA through the so called Host Processor Interface. This further reduces the data in/out possibilities to one 16-bit word every 6 cycles in the CY7C67300 clock (48 MHz). 2 bytes / 21 ns in other words.
