aurora 8b10b in two places in IP catlog

Jump to solution

Hello - I'm familiar with the GT wizard and have been using the Aurora single lane 4 byte template, the test bench seems to run without any issues.  Under Comm & Networking/serial interfaces, the aurora 8b10b IP is there also.  Which IP is better to use?  Do they accomplish the same thing?  Looking at the aurora IP under serial interfaces, it seems to give the user more high level interfaces, e.g. framing and CRC.  Is it possible to get these features in the aurora IP that is created using the GT wizard?  Thanks.

Hello @sallwine

Which IP is better to use?

Do they accomplish the same thing?

They are different IP, so which one is better is is depend on your usecase. ( How do you want to use the IP)

--Transceiver Wizard only generates the SERDES parts,

So you have the flexibility to build your own protocol that suits your system.

--Aurora 8B10B IP will generates SERDES and protocol parts.

Please have a look on these docs, for Aurora 8B10B protocol. Please check if this IP can match your system requirement.

Is it possible to get these features in the aurora IP that is created using the GT wizard?

No, it is not possible.

Thanks & regards

Leo
