I'm currently designing what will end up being a FMC mechanize card. For now this design is implemented on the KCU105 while the VC709 is acting as the motherboard.
So far I've been able to use the LPC-FMC on the KCU105 but for the final evaluation I'll need to use the HPC-FMC. To connect the two boards the following cable is used: http://suddendocs.samtec.com/prints/hdr-169470-xx.pdf
And this is where the problem is. Because of the orientation of the connector the cable has to pass over at least one of the boards. With the LPC-FMC this is possible but with the HPC-FMC the cable collides with the cooling fan mounted on the FPGA. I've been looking for FMC cables where the connectors are oriented in a way so the cable doesn't pass over the board but so far I haven't been able to find anything.
Any help will be much appreciated,

Will rotating both LPC-FMC, HPC-FMC connectors towards VC709 won't work for you? Our connectors are designed such that whenever FMC is installed, it faces away from the board.

If the product picture of the cable you linked to is accurate then it wont work. The orientation of the cable is the same on both ends on the cable meaning that one of them will have to pass over the board. I've tried to illustrate the problem in the picture below.

Connect the FMC cable to both boards (as shown in your photo) and then rotate things (as shown in sketch below). This gives two new orientations that prevent the cable from covering the fan on KCU105.

Thank you for your suggestion! We've already tried this and unfortunately the cable we have isn't bendable enough.
If you have succeeded with the sketched approach a part number for the used cable would be immensely helpful.
