Interfacing a USB Joystick to the ML507 development board

Hi,

I want to interface a Saitek Aviator joystick that conforms to the USB HID specification, to the USB port on my Xilinx ML507 development board. To start with I just want to simply identify a joystick x-axis or y-axis data input and light up a LED on the board.

The idea is to just get the infrastructure in place to parse the USB HID joystick input data, before proceeding further.

Any reading suggestions or tutorials that I can build upon, that will help show me the quickest route to get this functionality up and running?

Best regards,

Elvis Dowson

You need to write an assembly level program for the Cypress chip on the board to decode the HID protocol. Check cypresses website and have a look at their development tools.
