Ultrascale+ VCU118-ES board files for Vivado 2019

Vivado 2019 seems to have removed the board files (< 2.0) for the engineering sample version of the VCU118.

I tried to copy the board files from a previous version of Vivado over to the 2019 board files directory, but can't seem to force 2019 to update its board list to include the copied ES board files.

How should I resolve this?

Re: Ultrascale+ VCU118-ES board files for Vivado 2019

Hi bfung,

Do you have ES Silicon on your VCU118-ES?: https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/37579.html

If so, the issue might be 2019.1 not supporting XCVU9P ES.

Please confirm the device is supported by running:

get_parts -filter {NAME =~"*es"}

Thanks,
Andres

Yes, I have ES silicon.

What if I were to create a custom board file. How does Vivado detect if a file is ES or not?

Re: Ultrascale+ VCU118-ES board files for Vivado 2019

Hi bfung,

I missed your response!

If you create your own board files, you'll still have to define your part in board.xml and part0_pins.xml.

If you want to use VCU118-ES with Vivado 2019.1, you need to enable ES devices. Do you have them installed?

Thanks,
Andres

Yes, ES was enabled during installation, but I can't seem to force Vivado 2019.1 to include the VCU118-ES board files. I copied these board files over to the Vivado 2019.1 directory from Vivado 2017.4.

Hi bfung,

Can you run this tcl command on Vivado to see which ES devices you have enabled?

get_parts -filter {NAME =~"*es"}

Thanks,
Andres
