This is something which we have not tested. So not supported.
Also it is not recommended for the new design as well. Refer to the note in datasheet:
http://www.cypress.com/file/219941/download
Please try to use the supported flash which can be S29GL512S or P.
Hope it helps.

Thanks

@ddcnguyen

Welcome to the Xilinx Forum!

A list of flash devices supported for configuration of Kintex UltraScale devices can be found in Table C-5 on about page 342 of Xilinx document UG908. The Spansion S29GL512N does not appear in Table C-5.

When selecting a flash device, be sure it is large enough to hold the bitstream for the FPGA – and big enough to hold two bitstreams if you plan to do multiboot.  Bitstream sizes for Kintex UltraScale FPGAs are given in Table 1-4 on about page 19 of Xilinx document UG570.

Cheers,
Mark

Hello,

Agree that the S29GL512 is not on the supported devices list but what is the process to get configuration memory tested and approved by Xilinx?

Getting the S29GL512 approved would serve an immediate need but we are in the business of making custom memory modules for space so it would be good to understand the verification/approval process.

Thanks,

Dwayne
