PROM file generation

Hi,

I am using the PROM device XCF32PVOG48C in Slave SlepectMAP mode for Spartan 6 FPGA. While generating the .mcs file I am not enabling the compression as suggested in ug161-FlashPROM.pdf under "Creating an (XCFxxP) Advanced PROM File with iMPACT Software". I am getting the following error

ERROR:Bitstream:25 - 0x500000 bytes loaded up from 0x0 would exceed promsize
0x400000.

Is it necessary to enable the compression option in my case and how is the internal oscillator configured for CLKOUT in the decompression feature?

Regards,

Bhavya K

Re: PROM file generation

As the error suggests, the size of bitstream is greater than the PROM size. So, to make thr bitstream fit into PROM, you have to compress it.
