Programming Xilinx CPLD's using impact in Win 10

Hi - I have recently upgraded to Win 10 and can no longer use Impact to programme CPLD's (Impact not supported > win 7 as far as I know). Is there any alternative software we can use in Win 10 and a USB Xilinix programmer?

Myself and the team work in CARE and we are very light users programming "older" families of CPLD's only.

Thanks

Hello @ritchiemidas,

Yes, we have not officially tested programming CPLD devices using iMPACT on windows-10.

while we will recommend you to stick to windows-7 for using iMPACT.

while you can try re-installing the cable drivers.

Also refer other forum posts more help on this.

Thank you

Thanks @kvasantr for the quick reply, I have already tried this to no avail.

Is there any other Xilinx software packages that you can use as an alternative that are win 10 compatible?

Re: Programming Xilinx CPLD's using impact in Win 10

Hello @ritchiemidas,

Unfortunately answer is no.

Both iMPACT and CPLD are legacy products of Xilinx. Because of that we have no solution for them to work on windows-10.

Meanwhile we have workaround mentioned in following answer record to properly install the tool.

Thank you

@ritchiemidas

For what it's worth, we use Xilinx Lab Tools 14.7 (basically just iMPACT, no capability to write/build code) on Windows 10 x64 and, after a little bit of messing around (disable SmartHeap) it works fine.
