Vivado doesn't find Device (Kintex 7, UART)

Jump to solution

Hello,

I'm trying to program my device but when I try to open the hardware target Vivado can't find anything.

I already tried different drivers like this one https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/33569.html but it doesn't help.

Restarting Vivado or the computer neither.

My hardware manager looks like this

Thank you for your help!

Best regards

Christian

Hi @chris_inf

Yes.

Connect USB cable between JTAG port and PC/Laptop.

Check for UG908 (v2018.2) Chapter 4 for programming FPGA  process.

Bhushan

Hi @chris_inf

Which cable are you using to programme? Which OS?

Did you try with any other cable to check if there is same issue observed?

Try reinstalling the cable drivers from Vivado Installation location by following below steps:

 1. Open Command Prompt with administrator privileges

2. Navigate to <Vivado_Installation_Directory>\Vivado\2017.4\data\xicom\cable_drivers\nt64

3. Run the command: install_drivers_wrapper.bat

Regards
Rohit

Hi Christian,
Do you want to program or display the message on UART.

Follow the steps for installing the drivers which Rohit has shared in the above post. This AR also has similar steps https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/54381.html

Device manager should report Jungo driver:-

For programming the device please connect the cable to JTAG interface of the board.

I can see the COM4 is connected to UART port.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm running Vivado 2018.2 on Windows 10.

I gonna try what you mentioned on Monday.

Unfortunately reinstalling the drivers didn't worked for me and i tried 2 different Mini-USB to USB cables in order to program my device. I already have the bitstream for my ROM.

So should i try JTAG?

Hi @Bhushan,

I think, I have to buy the JTAG HS2 cable first. Hopefully this will work then.
