xilinx smartlynq

Ref: smartlynq data cable user guide (ug1258) page 19-20

1. create a configuration file

2. type this command in

update_hw_firmware –skip_update –config_path config.ini –reset

3. note message in window

ERROR: there is no current hw_server and no option value given for `hw_server`.

Well, can someone kindly explain what this error means please?

Okay, things are getting better I think.

After power cycling the device, it now displays "no connection".

No attempts at following the manual yield any progress.

It appears that the vivado application and the smartlynq software is completely lost,

neither being able to overcome the other.

Any advise from xilinx would be appreciated.

Hi @jrp ,

1. Is it possible for you send snapshot Smartlynq cable with power ON and connected to PC/Laptop?

2. Also provide snapshot of Vivado Hardware Manager while connecting cable for all steps (Mainly hardware server setting window and select hardware target window).

3. You were able to configure the FPGA before or you are facing this at time 0?

4. You can try upgarding the firmware by refering this AR#71624 and then share the results are you still facing the issue.

Why would I want to upgrade to 2018.3?

I have no 2018.3 tools. I am using 2017.3 tools and the cable indicates 2017.3 on

the cable display.

I don't get it!

Hello @jrp 

Are you facing any issues while FPGA device configuration using SmartLynq cable?

I believe you are trying to use Smartlynq cable with ethernet connection with static IP.

Your Config.ini File should have some static IP assigned by you. Please get valid ip-address, ip-netmask, and ip-gateway information from your network administrator. This static IP should be added to Config.ini file.

For example:

 

set always-open-jtag 1
set ip-address 10.1.1.15
set ip-netmask 255.255.255.0
set ip-gateway 10.1.1.51

 

After making this changes in you config.ini file;  please run command

update_hw_firmware –skip_update –config_path config.ini –reset

Note: Your SmartLynq must detected and connected to Vivado hardware manager through USB or Ethernet connection; before proceeding for above steps.

For USB static IP you can follow procedure provided in UG1258 (v1.2) : Page 21
