ZC702 v1.1 DS2 LED is RED and FPGA failed to init.

Hello,

I am having issue on one of the ZC702 version 1.1 board. The DS2 red light is on and seems like the FPGA failed to init. It was working fine but after few power cycle the RED LED came on and never worked. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You

Re: ZC702 v1.1 DS2 LED is RED and FPGA failed to init.

Hey @jatinp84,

AR# 53615 describes similar problems, but they should be limited to v1.0 boards.

In your case, does the JTAG work as expected?

The DS2 red could also be caused by a bad initialization (bitstream).

Hope this helps,

Herbert

Hi Voyager,

I have not tried JTEG.  I am pretty new to the XILINX board hence If you can direct me on testing that would be great.

See an image for error message I am getting.

Thanks for your help!

Everyone has to start somewhere ...

Ah, now this paints a completely different picture ...

Your board seems to be working just fine, as you can see on the console output.

It successfully grabs an IP from your server and starts downloading the bitstream via TFTP.

Once that is done, it analyzes the file it received, just to find that it doesn't have a proper device ID set.

That's the point where it stops and errors out.

Check the bitstream and make sure that it is in the correct format and has the proper device ID set.

Thanks for your help!

You're welcome!

Hope this helps,

Herbert

Re: ZC702 v1.1 DS2 LED is RED and FPGA failed to init.

The same bitstream file is working fine on the other board.

The board was working fine before but after power cycling few times it stopped working. The RED LED came on before few times as well but after power cycle it went away but this time it is not going away and failed to init.

Is there anyway to master reset the board or something?

Thanks,

The same bitstream file is working fine on the other board.

The other board being identical hardware?

The RED LED came on before few times as well but after power cycle it went away but this time it is not going away and failed to init.

This would suggest some kind of non obvious harware problem with the board.

Well, basically the on-board flash is what holds the bootloader and environment (which is not used in your case). So, if you connect the board via JTAG and reflash the bootloader, that should be the 'master reset' you are looking for. (Note: I don't think it will help much, but you can try)

Hope this helps,

Herbert

Yes, the other board is exactly same as before.

Do you have procedure or documents for using JTAG and reflash the bootloader?

Thanks,

Re: ZC702 v1.1 DS2 LED is RED and FPGA failed to init.

Hey @jatinp84,

There is a tutorial (XTP183) which explains how to restore the QSPI flash on the ZC702, and the associated zip archive with the data.

Best,

Herbert
