CoSimulation is when you have two (or more) different simulation environments concurrently on a heterogen model
e.g Matlab/simulink together with some HDL Simulator and/or some SPICE Simulator.
Any combination of simulation tools can apply, if supported by the main Tool.
Furthermore there's Hardware CoSimulation.
Here some Hardware Target (mostly FPGA) is fed with a configuration of the Model under Test and some extra Communication IP. The Simulation environment can now use "the real stuff" to accelerate the simulation.
This explanation is very short but includes the main points.
Have a nice simulation

Xilinx ISIM simulator supports a co-simulation mode. Here is the link with some more info: http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx12_1/ism_r_hardware_cosim_overview.htm
