Error : stopped,reason="end-stepping-range"

Jump to solution

Hello,

I am trying to simulate a big design but got the following error in middle of simulation

@E Simulation failed: SIGSEGV.
@E [SIM-1] CSim failed with errors.

while executing
"csim_design -clean"

To check the problem, I ran the design in "debug" mode, it showed the following output(blue) generated by the command

printf(" %i motion block is %i\n",i,out[i]);

175 motion block is 0  -> Expected
176 motion block *stopped,reason="end-stepping-range". ->Error

What can be the reason for this "end-stepping-range". Can it be memory issue as my design is quite big and computationally intensive?

P.S. -  1) Synthesis of this design completed without any error.

           2) I have tried to re-create the whole design

Thanks for your reply,
On investigating more on SIGSEGV error, i found that it mostly occurs due to an array being accessed out of it bounds.
I found the error in my code. And its working now.
Thanks

This could be a memory issue. Would it be possible to run the design in 2014.4 if you are not doing so? If yes then kindly archive the testcase along with Testbench so that I can escalate the matter. SIGSEGV is usually a crash and needs to be investigated further.
