When I check the error log file, it simply says

# An unexpected error has occurred (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION)

Stack:

Opening the .dmp file in Visual Studio tells me that the exception code is 0xC0000005 and the exception information is "The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access."

 

I have tried deleting my project and creating a new one from scratch. I have rebooted my computer, and I have tried using a different version of HLS (2017.4 and 2018.1). The error is produced in all cases.

I am getting error log similar to the one in original post in Vivado HLS 2019.1. Has the problem been fixed and made it to 2019.1?

I have no DATAFLOW pragma in my code. Is it known whether bug was in DATAFLOW pragma only or it was more general problem?

Hi @bwaj_ster , I fixed (or maybe better say avoided) that issue eventually. Unfurtunately I don't remember details. By comparing my code with the issue and without I see that I stopped using HLS_DATA_PACK pragma and changed stracture of data passed through hls:stream argument of main function. Code causing exception passes data in form of struct type xxx_t. The code without exception passes ap_uint<8*sizeof(xxx_t)> and "manually" converts the vector to structure.

As I said, I don't remember details, but from code comparison this seems to be the only change. I worked under significant time preasure so i was glad I got rid of the exception and didn't have time to research it more.

If you are able to track cause of your problem I will be happy to hear the result.
