How to fix a loadless signal

Hi

I am designing a circuit, which when uploaded to a FPGA will pretty much be controlled with SW0, SW1, SW2, SW3. I have set the location for each of them in my constraint file, but continue to get the following error. 

Loadless block "XLXI_140" (BUF) removed.
 The signal "SW0_IBUF" is loadless and has been removed.
  Loadless block "SW0_IBUF" (BUF) removed.
   The signal "SW0" is loadless and has been removed.
    Loadless block "SW0" (PAD) removed.

How do I ensure my switches have a load?

Is it that the logic has no output ?
any logic that is not used is trimmed back

e,g if you had a 4 input or gate, and the output was not used in the logic, then all the 4 inputs will be removed.

The normal reason for this is a logic error
the answer to this is to simulate and check your logic.
