XDC files -> how to set the files order

Jump to solution

Hi All,

In Vivado, there is an option to set/use severaral XDC constraints files.

But, how to define an order of how these XDC files will be executed? (an execution order of the XDC constraints is important).

Thank you!

Hi @ldm.eth ,

You can change the PROCESSING_ORDER property of your XDC file as follows:

  1. Highlight the XDC file in your Sources view.
  2. Open the Attributes tab in the Source File Properties window.
  3. Change the PROCESSING_ORDER of the XDC to EARLY, NORMAL, or LATE, depending on when you want the file to be processed.

Thanks,

Raj

Hi, @ldm.eth ,

Just for complement:

In general, PROCESSING_ORDER of the constraint file {EARLY/LATE} is mainly set for IP's constraints. The user constraints' PROCESSING_ORDER is set as NORMAL.

You can also modify the order of constraint files in "Edit constraints sets" window by Move-up/Move_down button.

Steps: <1> Select the constraints set in Source window;

           <2> Right-click menu -> "Edit constraints sets"

           <3> Select the constraints and click Move-up/Move_down button to modify the constraint executing order.
