Error launching Vivado 2018.2

Jump to solution

Hi,

I downloaded Vivado 2018.2 in Windows 10 PC. Every time when I try to open Vivado, it fails. I then re-installed the same Vivado but I am still facing the same issue. 1 out of may be 10 times, I am able to launch Vivado.

Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

Thank you.

Hello @vivek,

Please check this below related AR, as this provides more information about possible options to check on this error, please see if it helps.

https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/57386.html

Also, please navigate to e.g. Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features and from here make sure you have both vcredist 2015 (or 2017) x86 and also x64, as show in my example below:

Forum_60.png

Here you can also select these and do Uninstall, if needed, and then obtain and re-install these again.

The Visual C++ redistributable 2015 can be downloaded from this link:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

Hope this helps.

Hi @vivek,

Are you seeing a specific error when this fails? What is the specific version of Windows 10 you are running?

Thank you,
Devin

Hi @vivek,

Can I have you try re-running the distributables in the install?

  1. Run both the Visual C++ redistribution executables located at:
    • <installpath>\tps\win32\vcredist_x86.exe (e.g., C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2013.2\tps\win32\vcredist_x86.exe)
    • <installpath>\tps\win64\vcredist_x64.exe (e.g., C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2013.2\tps\win64\vcredist_x64.exe)
  2. Reboot the operating system.

Thank you,
Devin

I tried to run the visual c++ - vcredist_64.exe , but I got setup failures. I have attached the screenshot of -

setup fail

log file

location of vcredist_64.exe in different folders.

It says I have already a new version of the setup file.

Hi @vivek,

Did this give you an option to 'Repair' or 'Uninstall' before resulting in that error? If so which gave the error.

We also want to make sure you are not running this from the downloads location.

Thank you,

Devin

No, I didn't give me any option for repair or uninstall. I am running the setup file located in the installation path you provided!

Do you think there is conflict between different setup files by the same name?

I am getting the same error but vc_redist 2015 is not listed even on my installed programs list. I've tried running the exe with /uninstall option and it runs without an error, but I still get the same error code when trying to run the vc_redist 2015 installer included with Vivado. I am trying to install Vivado 18.1 not 18.2 in case that is significant.

The VC 2015 and VC 2017 re-dist files cannot be installed at the same time:
