PYNQ-Z2 (Zynq) board not listed as a target board on Vivado 2019.2 free web version

Was thinking purchasing the PYNQ-Z2 (Zynq) board but noticed Vivado 2019.2 free web version is not listing this board to select it as a target when trying to create a new project.

How do I get this board to be listed ? Is this not available within the Vivado 2019.2 free web version of the tool?

See the “Board Settings” section in the documentation

Thanks for the info.

I tried to extract the folder pynq-z2 within the following area as suggested :

C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2019.2\data\boards

(ie  C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2019.2\data\boards\pynq-z2 )

But when I go to the Vivado, create new project -> boards part, the pynq-z2 board is not listed !

The other default boards are under :

C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2019.2\data\boards\board_parts

  artix-7

  zynq

I also tried placing the pynq-z2 folder within C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2019.2\data\boards\board_parts but still I cannot see the board listed on Vivado.

pynq-z2 folder contains :

A.0 folder and inside A.0 folder it has the following files :

board.xml

part0_pins.xml

preset.xml

pynq_z2.jpg  (photo of the pynq_z2 board)

Please assist on how to view the pynq_z2 board on the Vivado board's list.

Resolved it

I had to place the pynq-z2 folder within the following directory :

C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2019.2\data\boards\board_files

I am now able to view the pynq-z2 board on the board's list when I invoke vivado 2019.2

Hello @knugent ,

Thanks for letting us know. Glad you were able to sort this issue out.

Indeed, if you need to add the board files to appear in Vivado, the board files need to be added under C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2019.2\data\boards\board_files.

As your issue is resolved now and if there are no further questions, can you please mark your last response as Accepted Solution (more info on this can be found here: https://forums.xilinx.com/t5/help/faqpage/faq-category-id/solutions#solutions), so that the topic can be completed then?  We appreciate your help.

Have a nice day.

Kind Regards,
Anatoli Curran,
