Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

I try to follow indications in the section "Lab3: Using Xlicsrvrmgr Command-Line Utility to Work With Floating Activation Based Licenses" in a file named Activation_based_license_lab_draft.docx

I'm working with server and client PC with no internet connection.
Server and client are Linux stations.

Step 1 :
I ran the command "install_fnp.sh" on a Linux client.
I wonder if I have to do it from the server.
I can't run the command on the server because I'm not admin.

--------------> Can I run install_fnp.sh from the client ?

Step 2 :
I created the "Licence Request" with "xlicsrvrmgr -cr request.xml" from the Linux client.

Step 3 :
The request.xml file was used to generate a licence key from Xilinx Licensing Site.

Step 4 :
From the Linux client, I ran "xlicsrvrmgr -p Xilinx.lic".
I viewed the license with "xlicsrvrmgr -v".

Step5 :
I start the server with "lmgrd -c <license file>" on the Linux server

Step 6 :
I set the XILINXD_LICENSE_FILE environment variable with "set XILINXD_LICENSE_FILE=<port>@<servername> with <port> and <servername> corresponding to server.
Licenses were not available

Step 7 :
I ran twice the 2 licenses : xlicsrvrmgr -cr return.xml -r <FulfillmentId>

-> Now, when I run "xlicsrvrmgr -v", I see a D which indicates that the 2 licenses are disabled.

From Windows with internet connection, I ran : "C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2014.2\bin\xlicsrvrmgr.bat" -returnTransaction "request=return.xml" "response=response.xml"

And I have the following error :
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Runtime Error!

    Program: C:...

    R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I don't have response.xml

So my questions :
 - Can I run install_fnp.sh from the client ?
 - As I am a linux user. How can I make the setting outside of the vlm application (step 6) ?
Do I have to configure environment variables ?
   Which environment variables ? (XILINXD_LICENSE_FILE, LM_LICENSE_FILE, ...)
 - How can I return the license keys to Xilinx without error ?
 - Can I generate new license keys (step 3) if I can't return the previously generated license keys.
 - The license must be installed on our server. Can you confirm the procedure from step 1 to 6 ?

Thank you

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

Answer to your queries:

 - Can I run install_fnp.sh from the client ?

[Vinay] Since you are generating the license for server, you need to run install_fnp.sh on the server.

 - As I am a linux user. How can I make the setting outside of the vlm application (step 6) ?
Do I have to configure environment variables ?
   Which environment variables ? (XILINXD_LICENSE_FILE, LM_LICENSE_FILE, ...)

[Vinay] Once the license was processed, you have to set the XILINXD_LICENSE_FILE to port@server on client machines.
 - How can I return the license keys to Xilinx without error ?

[Vinay] Check this answer record for returning the license: http://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/60525.html

 - Can I generate new license keys (step 3) if I can't return the previously generated license keys.

[Vinay] You can generate the new licenses without returning old licenses.

 - The license must be installed on our server. Can you confirm the procedure from step 1 to 6 ?

[Vinay] The steps you followed are correct but you have to follow these steps on server with root/administrator privileges.

Thanks,
Vinay

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

Thank you for the answer.

There is no proxy for my internet connection.

AR #60525 indicates "A license cannot be returned without the proxy setting information."

Can I return the licenses or not ?

Which information I have to use for proxy setting in my command ? "proxy=\"http://proxy 8888\""

In AR #60525, the port number is 8888.

In Activation_based_license_lab_draft.docx, the port is 80.

Which port number must be used ?

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

If there are no proxy settings, I suggest you to use port number 0080 and see if this helps.

Thanks,
Vinay

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

I always have the Runtime error.

I try the command :

> "C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2014.2\bin\xlicsrvrmgr.bat" -returnTransaction "request=return.xml" "response=response.xml" "proxy=\"http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX 0080\""

with XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX the default gateway IP adress.

What IP adress must be used ?

Thanks

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

Since you do not have any proxy settings, you can use http://proxy

Thanks,

Vinay

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

The error is caused because of Microsoft Visual C++ libraries.
Try running the same command after installing latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2012

Thanks,
Vinay

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

You can try and remove the proxy parameter since there is no proxy for your internet connection.

For the Runtime error, are you using firewall or something like that on your machine?

Sean

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

I have Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistribuable (x86) - 11.0.61030.

I think it's the lastest version.

I always have the runtime error.

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

I try without the proxy parameter and the Runtime error occurs.

The firewall was disabled.

I used Wireshark and I don't see frame linked to the xlicsrvrmgr command.

Thanks

Hello,

I'm getting the same R6034 error here.

Any update on solving it?

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

I always have the problem and I didn't receive any response.

Moreover, we are not able to generate a new license from xilinx site : we can't select "modify license".

It's critical.

I don't known if it's linked to the first problem.

Do you have any solution ?

Thanks

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

Since you are getting runtime error, I suggest you to return the license on the other machine that was connected to internet.

1. Create a return request on the licensed machine using command: xlicsrvrmgr -cr "return_request.xml" -r fulfillmentid

2. Copy this return_request.xml to the other machine (that was connected to the internet) and run the command:

 xlicsrvrmgr -returnTransaction "request=return_request.xml" "response=return_response.xml" "proxy=\"http://proxy 8888 [<userid> <passwd>]\""

3. Copy this generated return_return.xml to the licensed machine and run the command: xlicclientmgr -p return_response.xml

Thanks,

Vinay

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

That's what I do : I return the license on a machine that is connected to the internet.

1. I created the return request from the machine I ran the command "install_fnp.sh"
Now, when I try to run the command : xlicsrvrmgr -cr "return_request.xml" -r fulfillmentid, I have :
ERROR: Unable to create request because of an error in a request action
ERROR: Fulfillment "fulfillmentid" is disabled (already being returned).
    Exit(1) error in command line.

2. On the machine that is connected to the internet I run the command : xlicsrvrmgr -returnTransaction "request=return_request.xml" "response=return_response.xml"
   Notes :
    - I used the previously generated files for the request parameter.
    - I have no proxy

   => Runtime error occurs

3. I don't have the return response file. I have the runtime error ...

Thanks

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

From the below error:
ERROR: Fulfillment "fulfillmentid" is disabled (already being returned).

It is clear that you had already created return request for this fulfillmentid.

Thanks,
Vinay

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

I had already created the return request but I can't return it to xilinx due to the runtime error.

And I think that as a consequence, we can't generate a new license from xilinx site (we can't modify license).

We need to generate a license from the xilinx site.

Thanks

Re: Runtime error when trying to return license keys

Hi,

I follow your indications and it does not work.

I don't see new indication.

I need to modify the license but I can't because of the runtime error when I try to return the license.

I'm expecting a solution.

Thanks
