Unable to uninstall Vivado 2015.2

Jump to solution

I didn't want to re-open this closed thread, but I'll refer to it:

https://forums.xilinx.com/t5/Installation-and-Licensing/Vivado-2015-2-uninstall-hangs/m-p/675674#M14025

On my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit sp1 machine there is no Vivado_2015.2 directory in C:\Xilinx\.xinstall (solution #2 in thread above), and 2015.2 is not listed in the Control Panel (solution #1). In the Start menu the shortcut in the Vivado 2015.2 called "Uninstall 2015.2" is a dead shortcut because it points to the .xinstall\Vivado_2015.2 folder that does not exist.

I have both Vivado 2015.2 and 2015.4 installed and now want to uninstall 2015.2. Here is what's listed in the Control Panel from Xilinx:

ISE 14.7

Vivado 2015.4

DocNav

Xilinx Information Center

Nothing for 2015.2. Any suggestions?

Hello @rjsefton

It looks like your Vivado 2015.2 is NOT installed successfully OR the installation directories are manually deleted.

Thanks,

Vinay

Hi @vuppala -

Thanks for the quick response, but 2015.2 was installed correctly and I can still run it from the Start menu or from a shortcut on my desktop. The application itself is fine, including SDK and HLS. The only thing that seems to be missing is the Vivado_2015.2 directory under C:\Xilinx\.xinstall. Control Panel doesn't see the installation either, nor does Xilinx Information Center.

Is it possible that the installation of 2014.2 wiped out the installation information from 2015.2?

Regards,

Bob

Edit: I'm just going to reinstall 2015.2 and then uninstall it. Hopefully that will clean things up.
