Vivado 2015.2 uninstall hangs

Jump to solution

I am currently running Vivado 2015.2 and want to remove it before I install 2015.4 on a Windows 7, 64bit machine that has no internet access.  When I ran the uninstall the application splash screen comes up and subsequently hangs.  Any attempt to access other applications eventually causes them to hang as well.  The only recovery mechanism is to reboot.  Attached is my log file.  Please advise.

Hello @eagerr

The attached log file is for Xilinx Information Center log file.

Share the steps that you are following to uninstall Vivado 2015.2 from machine to debug the issue.

Also you can choose one of the two ways to uninstall Vivado 2015.2:

  1. Using Control Panel (i.e., Start --> Control Panel --> Programs and Features/Uninstall a Program --> select Vivado 2015.2 and click on Uninstall/Change)
  2. Using Command Prompt (i.e., Open command prompt and navigate to C:\Xilinx\.xinstall\Vivado_2015.2\ and run the command: xsetup.exe -Uninstall)

Thanks,

Vinay

Good news.  For whatever reason, doing the uninstall from the Control Panel worked.

Thanks

The method I used to uninstall was by navigating to the Xilinx program menu and selecting the uninstall link.

I also attempted an uninstall with the "run as administrator" when clicking on the uninstall link and got the same behavior.

I will next attempt to execute the uninstall from the control pannel .
