Vivado 2015.3 uninstall fails (msvcp110.dll is missing)

Jump to solution

Hello,

I try to uninstall Vivado 2015.3 from my pc, (win 7 64 bit), but I get the following error :

the program can't start because MSVCP110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I checked in C:\windows\system32 and the MSVCP110.dll is there

I also tried reinstalling the VC++ 2010 redistributable SP1 x64, but didn't fix this error either.

Trying to add or remove components via the help menu results in the same error dialog (MSVCP110.dll is missing)

I ran into the same problem trying to uninstall Vivado 2015.3 from a Windows 7 SP1 64-bit machine.

I worked around it by copying all the DLL files from the root of the Vivado 2015.3 installation tarball (Xilinx_Vivado_SDK_2015.3_0929_1.tar.gz), i.e.

msvcp110.dll

msvcr110.dll

vccorlib110.dll

to

C:\Xilinx\.xinstall\Vivado_2015.3

(I don't know if all three DLLs are required, but it did no harm to copy them all.)

I was then able to uninstall Vivado with

Start -> All Programs -> Xilinx Design Tools -> Vivado 2015.3 -> Uninstall Vivado

Hope this helps.

Hi

You can manually delete the Vivado 2015.2 files.

I prefer not to do it this way ... uninstalling normally does a lot more, like cleaning up registry, removing user settings, ...?

and sorry, I meant 2015.3, my 2015.2 does properly uninstall if I want to. It's only the 2015.3 that does not want to uninstall

thanks @anusheel but that doesn't solve the problem. Tried with 2010, 2012, ... no success, same error.

I followed the instructions on Windows 10 64 Bit.

After reinstalling VC++ 2010 and moving the dlls to the folder, the error message changed- now it states:

Application could not be started (0xc000007b).

Any ideas?

MW.

In this case, you might need to reset the settings file. See if that helps.

Hi,

This is what solved the problem in my case (Vivado 2015.3 on Win7 64 bit):

I copied msvcp110.dll, msvcr110.dll and vccorlib110.dll from C:\Xilinx\.xinstall\Vivado_2015.3\bin to C:\Xilinx\.xinstall\Vivado_2015.3, and ran the uninstaller again successfully.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Roger
