Vivado Design Edition license for ZC706

Jump to solution

Hi there,

A few years ago, we bought a ZC706 Evaluation Kit. Now we are starting to work on it.

According to what is reported at this link

https://www.xilinx.com/products/boards-and-kits/ek-z7-zc706-g.html

a node-locked & device-locked Vivado Design Edition should be included.

We would like to know how to generate such a license. We haven't found any further information within the kit.

Thank you in advance for your help.

@paolofalconearesys,

When did you buy the kit? Was it a year ago from now? If it was less than a year ago, then you could redeemed the voucher and have generated the license.

But if it is more than a year, the subscription period has lapsed and you need to purchase another license.

If the voucher still works, you must have received it within the kit.

Use the steps this user guide to redeem the voucher and generate the license:
https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/boards_and_kits/install/ug1042-voucher-license-install.pdf

Thanks,
Nupur

Hi Nupurs,

Thank you for your reply.

We bought the ZC706 in February 2015. We haven't received the voucher.

How can we do to generate the Design Edition license?

@paolofalconearesys,

I am afraid the subscription period has lapsed.

You need to buy another Vivado license either online or from distributor:

@nupurs Does the validity of the license start from when the kit was purchased? I thought it started from whenever you activated the license. I'm pretty sure our device-locked license (with a mini-ITX 7Z045 board) wasn't activated until 6+ months after we bought the board, and we got a year of updates after the activation date.

@paolofalconearesys There should have been a card in the box that looks a lot like the one on this page (that voucher is for SDSoC, but the Vivado one is similar). Check the kit very carefully for that. If you don't have the card, there's nothing you can do - you need that card to claim the license. If there's no card, that's unfortunate. It's unlikely that the shop will accept a return/replacement so long after the purchase, so your only remaining option is to buy a full Vivado license.

If this is for a university project, contact the XUP people about it (I think the direct email is xup@xilinx.com). They may be able to provide a free/cheap license for academic work.

@u4223374,

Generally there is a subscription end date associated with the license, which is 1 year from the date of purchase. This means you have to generate the license within 1 year of purchase. So I feel it would have lapsed by now.

What you are saying is about the version limit. Version limit shall start from the day the license is activated.

Thanks,
Nupur

@nupurs Ah, that makes perfect sense. So in this case he wouldn't be able to activate the license even for old versions of Vivado.

@u4223374,

I am afraid he can't :( He has to get a new license.

Thanks,
Nupur
