Vivado license fail on VM

Jump to solution

Back in August I attempted install Vivado 2014.2 on a VM.  The license install failed.  Then I found outt Vivado 2014.2 is not supported on VMs, so I just gave up.

To my delight, I discovered that Vivado 2014.3 and beyond is supported on VMs.  I've installed 2014.4, but have been unable to license it.

If I do:

xlicclientmgr -p Xilinx_License.xml

ERROR:  API function 60009 failed, result 51412

Response processing failed

Exit(4) error when processing response.

If I do:

xiclicentmgr -l

 SeqNo Status      Date              Time   Reference

           1 Pending   2014-08-02  06:45  ""

If I go to the Xilinx licensing website it says I have a pending
license and won't give me another.

Fer sure I've got a pending license... but I'm unable to install
it.  Is there anyway for me to unlock this situation?

Thanks in advance.

Turns out I had a certificate license from a MicroZed card.  I used that and
can now make Vivado 2014.4 work.

But alas, xsdk does not work :-(.  I get some GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL error, a complaint
that SDK is not licensed, and then it crashes.

I'll start another thread on this problem.

Hi,

Are you trying to process license generated with 2014.2 using 2014.4?

I think this is the reason for the error. The license needs to generated and processed by 2014.4 tool to work on VM.

which license is this (webpack or purchased)?

Thanks,
Deepika.
Thanks,
Deepika.

Hi,

Also attach request.html and request.xml that were generated when running the command: xliclientmgr -cr request.xml

Which OS are you using in VM?

Thanks,

Vinay

VM guest OS is Centos 6-5, 32 bit.

I'm trying to license a WebPACK license.

The problems started in August when I tried to license Vivado 2014.2 and
failed.  I think this effort has left things in a bad way that I don't know
how to get out of.

I still have the 2014.2  Xilinx_License.xml file.  I've tried both 2014.2 and 2014.4
versions of xlicclientmgr -p with it.  Neither work.

I noticed that there is a FLEXID in the Xilinx_License.xml file.  Since FlexIDs
are not supported on Linux I'm not sure why its there?

I was happily running Vivado on Windows, but then needed Petalinux.  This
is what's driving the VM/Linux install.  I'm new to the activation license thing.  Perhaps
I somehow thought I could generate a license on the Windows box for use on
the Linux box??   I don't remember.
