Xilinx Unified 2020.2 installer final processing stuck at the RedHat8.2

Jump to solution

I did not finish Vitis 2020.2 install on RHEL 8.2 and 8.3.

I tried 3 different RHEL 8.2 servers and all had the same problems.

Hi @gi4you

RedHat 8.3 isn't a supported OS for Vitis/Vivado as mentioned in UG973 2020.2.

Kill the hanging process to let the installation finish, and then re-run the ‘Generate device file list’ task after the installation has completed.

This and other info can be found in this Answer Record: https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/60118.html

You can also look into this AR for running post-install steps manually: http://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/60111.html

To manually Generate a device file list on Linux, you can do this by opening a terminal and running this command:

<installRoot>/Vivado/2020.2/bin/vivado -nolog -nojournal -mode batch -source <installRoot>/.xinstall/Vivado_2020.2/scripts/xlpartinfo.tcl -tclargs <installRoot>/Vivado/2020.2/data/parts/installed_devices.txt

This issue is also observed due to missing libraries, AR specifies the libraries required to run Vivado/Vitis tools on Linux machine: AR#66184

We have also seen this issue when there was a missing libtinfo5 library and installing this library completed the install process, please install this library and check if it helps you.

Also, refer to the below post and check if it helps.

https://forums.xilinx.com/t5/Installation-and-Licensing/Vivado-2018-3-Final-Processing-hangs-at-Generating-installed/m-p/972114#M25861

If you have followed the above guidelines and still issue persist then share the install log and all the steps you have followed till now to install the SW.

Linux:  ~/.Xilinx/xinstall/xinstall_123456789.log file

Thanks and Best Regards,

Ansari Hunen
