Customizing a memory for the MIG

Hi,

I'd like to ask the next: I want to use the DDR3 memory MT41K128M16JT-107 for the controller, but this part is not as an option in the MIG wizard. can I use the part MT41K64M16XX-107 and simply in the "Create Custom Part" edit the parameter "Row Address" to 14 bits?

Hello @jose09621 ,

The easiest thing to do here is target an equivalent part that's already supported by the IP.

The MT41J128M16xx-107 is natively supported and entirely equivalent to the MT4K128M16JT-107 you want to use. 
If you use the native part then there are no other modifictions.
If you were to use a smaller part like the MT41K64M16XX-107 then you would have an incorrect tRFC.

Yes, you can. Please also modify the timig parameters accroding to the memory datasheet if necessay.

Hi @ryana than you for your help. Do you know what means the "K" in the MT4K128M16 and the "J"  MT41J128M16?

Hello @jose09621 ,

It means a different die revision for that specific memory device density and data width but functionally at a DDR3 protocol level these two parts are identical.  It usually means the physical dimensions of the total package footprint may change but the ball definition remains unchanged.  Here's a snippet from a DDR4 data sheet that shows all the different die revisions that show up in the part number.
