MIG-7 Series Init Calibration Problem

Hello,

I have 2 questions regarding Init Calibration problem in MIG-7 Series

  1. Why does init_calib_complete doesn't assert when the bit file is dumped into an FPGA?
  2. When we perform Post-Synthesis/Implementation simulation also the asserting doesn't take place. What is the reason?

Re: MIG-7 Series Init Calibration Problem

Hi Suhas,

Have you looked at UG586 and specifically the "Debugging DDR3/DDR2 designs" in Chapter 1?  Look at the section on "hardware debug" - the general checks and calibration debug. Most likely a calibration stage is failing and it never finishes and never asserts. There are a number of reasons, including the PCB design, so you will need to go thru the debug section and determine where calibration is failing and determine the underlying reason.
