Where is the information in preset.xml used?

I am editing the preset.xml file for a custom board that is similar to the zcu102.

I am see a lot of info on board parts for example DDR4 memory part and timing information.  Good information but I am just curious what part of the flow uses this information?

Thanks,

Roger

Re: Where is the information in preset.xml used?

Hello @rhickey,

The preset.xml file is used when you want to make a board aware design.  This means when you create a new Vivado project you can target one of the boards that are detected in your install directory.  From here either in IPI or through a normal Vivado flow if you try to use an IP that's included in your preset, like a DDR controller, it will ask if you want to use the board aware presets.  Meaning it will automatically configure the IP to match the hardware on the board.board_aware.PNGboard_aware_presets.PNG
