10G Ethernet PCS PMA Clocking

Hi All,

 

I wish to provide ref_clk_p/n to 10G Ethernet PCS.

 

1. Is there a way to create FPGA fabric clock from Clocking Wizard and directly feed to the ref_clk inputs of 10G PCS

 

OR 

 

2. one has to generate the 156.25MHz of FPGA fabric clock onto AD20 and AE20, give it to Si5324 and then Si5324 Clock outs to be given to the ref_clk_p and ref_clk_n inputs via AC8 and AC9

 

Any help is highly appreciated.

What board? On the ZC706 you have to program (I2C) the SI5324 to generate 156.25MHz. Some other boards come with a default 156.25 clock that you just need to connect to 10G as refclk.

Yes, I'm using ZC706 board. I programmed the Si5324 via I2C and could get the desired 156.25 Clock to set the 10G PCS.

I could also generate FPGA Fabric PL clock at 156.25, give it to Si5324 and use the programmable Si5324 in bypass mode that directly delivered the clock into the 10G PCS.
